Recently bought a '95 to assuage my early mid-life crisis. Found this forum and have tricked up the bike as a result of many great postings...thanks to all of you! I paid $2200 for the bike that had 2085 miles on it. It was showroom condition top to bottom. I figured it had never been serviced because of the clanking valves. So I adjusted them, put in a K&N filter (yes, they're available as of Feb 03), slapped on a new Harley bullet muffler ($50), drilled out the 145 main jet with a 1/16-inch drill bit (equals 1.58 mm; hence, close enough to be a 160 jet), removed the spacer from the carb, and adjusted the mixture. I replaced the oil with Mobile One for V-Twins (8 bucks a quart). I've run a couple tanks of premium gas through it since the mods and I am happy to report that it is a super fine-sounding, very fast thumper! It jumps up to 70 MPH with no thought and then waits for more throttle...WOW! This is my fifth bike, but I haven't owned one for 6 years. It's by far the best sounding/riding bike I've ever owned and was definitely the best value for the buck. Now I'm waiting for the windshield, extra-loud chrome horn, and gas tank bib from J.C. Whitney. Nice to meet you all!
